Promotion Day Honors Growth, Culture, and Success

Promotion Day Honors Growth, Culture, and Success

Marcus Garvey Academy proudly celebrated a special day of promotions, highlighting the growth, achievements, and accomplishments of students across multiple grade levels.

Our Pre-K students delighted families and staff as they showcased some of the important skills they learned throughout the school year, including letter recognition and early literacy development. Their confidence and enthusiasm demonstrated just how much they have grown.

Kindergarten students shared a heartwarming presentation centered on their journey of growth. Using the theme of blooming from seedlings into little buds, students reflected on the knowledge, friendships, and experiences that helped them flourish throughout the year.

The day concluded with our annual 8th Grade African Rites of Passage Ceremony, a meaningful tradition that honors students as they transition to the next chapter of their educational journey. The ceremony featured African drumming and dance, creating a vibrant celebration of culture, achievement, and personal growth.

This year's ceremony featured a special guest speaker, 2021 Marcus Garvey Academy alumna and valedictorian, KrisTiana Dove. Miss Dove, who is currently a student at Johns Hopkins University and will be entering her sophomore year this fall, shared words of encouragement and inspiration with the graduating class. She challenged students to remain focused on their goals, embrace opportunities for growth, and continue striving for excellence as they prepare for high school and beyond.

Congratulations to all of our students on a successful school year and their well-deserved promotions!
